My name is Remy Koch and I am new to the whole blogging scene. I never had a tumblr or anything, so this will be my first attempt at a blog. I love sports, especially baseball and football, and I really love the fantasy aspect of each of them. They are extremely different from one another, yet they are both very fun. I have been doing them both for 7 years now, and I think I know enough now to share some of my knowledge and research with the interwebs.
I tend to believe that you should kinda "know" the people who you take advice from, you shouldn't listen to any schmuck on the internet. So with that being said, here is some information about me.
This is me, front and center:
I am entering what should be my senior year at Rutgers, a school whose athletics have brought the hopes of students many a time, only to tear out their hearts. I've been to many Rutgers football and basketball games and more times than not, I've left disappointed. For heaven's sakes, Rutgers bball lost its home opener this year to a team who finished 9-21. The football team was no better, losing its last two games when it only had to win one to win the Big East outright, then following that up with the worst/most boring college bowl game EVER.
Enough lamenting on the state of a should-be-better college program and more about me!
At the time of this writing, I am a 21 year old about to enter my 5th year at Rutgers. My first three years were spent in pharmacy school (ranked 26th in the country according to US News), as I labored away and struggled to maintain a 2.8 gpa. High school was a breeze for me, as I have always been extremely intelligent (I won class brains), so as you can imagine, coming into college and taking 18 difficult credits a semester from a get-go was a real shock for me. The first three years of school took a lot of effort, creating the mindstate of "just pass everything, who cares what grade you get". For someone who never struggled to get an A throughout my first 12 years of schooling, this was really hard for me to deal with. After my third year in pharmacy school, I decided to move on, so I stayed at Rutgers and started studying biotechnology with a focus in bioinformatics. The classes became much easier, there were no longer 2-3 exams a week, and within one month smart-and-caring-about-grades Remy was back in action. I have been studying biotechnology for a little over a year now and I love it! I am a minor blip away from having a 4.0 gpa since I left the pharmacy school and I am disappointed to not get an A again. I'm back and I love it.
My favorite sport by far is baseball, but I love football and college basketball as well. I watch a lot of college football as well, but you will rarely catch me watching an NBA game, I just don't enjoy it. My teams are the Red Sox for baseball, the Cardinals for football, Kansas for college basketball, and South Carolina for college football.
That is my second favorite moment in sports.
This is my first:
